A breakdown of the support Councils are offering at this time

We've searched high and low to find the council tax support available for you during the Coronaviris crisis. We will continue to update this blog as and when we source more support or update existing. We've also gathered the support available for car finance, credit cards, and mortgages.

Calderdale

Calderdale are not deferring council tax payments at this time, though you may be eligible for a reduction or discount

East Riding of Yorkshire

You can receive housing benefit and council tax support online. Council tax support will depend on your income and circumstances.

Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire council has not yet decided how to award support received from the Government’s Hardship Fund, and will be updating their website as things develop.

Havering

You can apply for a three month payment holiday. If your payment is due now and you cannot make it, you will not be charged late fees.

If you cannot make council tax payments, get in touch immediately to tell Havering Council about your circumstances and discuss options.

Working age residents who already receive council tax support can receive £150 off their council tax bill.

You can also apply for a discretionary council tax payment.

Leicestershire

The Council is asking for residents to get in touch as soon as possible if you think you might not be able to pay council tax.

If you can’t pay council tax, are on a low income, and have savings of less than £16,000, you can claim council tax support. If you are in exceptional difficulty, you can apply for council tax discretionary relief.

No recovery action will be taken at this time, but you must get in contact.

North Lincolnshire

Those who already receive council tax support will receive another £150 off their council tax bill. If you’re now receiving a lower income, you can apply for council tax support.

RutlandIf you cannot pay council tax, you can either spread your payments over 12 months instead of 10 (so each payment is lower) or you can apply to defer payment to June 1st.

WiganIf you can’t pay council tax this month, contact Wigan Council online and explain your circumstances. You can apply for a council tax reduction online.
